Anonymous asked: I've always wondered the reasoning/history behind the solid blackwork I've seen a lot (mostly half-sleeves) besides the beauty, any info would be much appreciated. :)

hellofromwhereyouwanttobe-deact asked: For the anon that asked about the black armband.
I have one and this is what it means to me
"The 'black armband' view of our history reflects a belief that most Australian history since 1788 has been little more than a disgraceful story of imperialism, exploitation, racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination."

Anonymous asked: Does an armband tattoo have any meaning behind it, and does it pertain to a certain culture?
namesofthedead asked: If you have black tattooed properly by someone who knows what they are doing then it should not take more than one hit and maybe a few minor touch-ups at a later date. Anyone who tells you that it'll take multiple layers is probably not very good at what they are doing, just fyi.

namesofthedead asked: In answer to the question about pain and blackwork tattoos - I don't think heavy black is that much more painful than any other kind of tattoo, the pain level depends more on the artist and the method (needle grouping/type of machine used). I've had some colour tattoos that were significantly more painful than having an area the same size blacked in.
Anonymous asked: Are blackwork tattoos more painful/costly than normal tattoos?
